Security Warnings over New Vulnerabilities Targeting Banking Apps and How to Protect Accounts

Cybersecurity experts urge users to activate protection layers and regularly update banking applications to avoid breaches.
Cybersecurity experts have revealed the monitoring of new techniques targeting smartphones to track and access sensitive banking data without permission. Specialists explained that these attacks often rely on fake links sent via instant messaging apps or SMS, aiming to trick victims into entering their personal data and secret credit card numbers.
Regulatory and banking authorities stressed the need for extreme caution and to avoid sharing one-time verification codes (OTP) with anyone claiming to be from the bank. Sources confirmed that financial institutions never request passwords over the phone, recommending reliance on official channels only and periodic monitoring of account notifications to detect any suspicious activity.
To protect devices from malware risks, experts advised activating two-factor authentication and updating operating systems and applications as soon as security patches are released. It is also preferable to avoid installing files from untrusted sources and to carefully review current application permissions to ensure no unknown program gains access to messages or contacts registered on the phone.
