Transport Ministry Reveals Details of High-Speed Electric Train Central Workshop as Regional Maintenance Hub

The Ministry of Transport announced the completion of major preparations at the central workshop dedicated to the first line of the High-Speed Electric Train. It is designed to become the largest integrated regional center for the maintenance and operation of rolling stock in the Middle East, featuring a massive warehouse complex, advanced technical inspection tracks, and daily and comprehensive periodic maintenance stations according to international standards.

The new facility relies on the latest digital technological systems to manage rapid fault diagnosis and perform major overhauls for high-speed trains. It also includes specialized engineering training centers to qualify Egyptian technical cadres in cooperation with global operating companies, ensuring operational efficiency and achieving the highest levels of safety for transporting millions of passengers annually.

The technical complex represents a fundamental pillar of the green, eco-friendly mass transit system in Egypt, serving the line connecting Sokhna and Matrouh and contributing to the sustainability of the train fleet for years. The ministry emphasized that the project promotes the localization of the transport industry and provides specialized job opportunities for engineers and technicians in various sectors of technology and modern operation.
