Automotive Localization Strategy Achieves First Stages with Assembly of Locally Made Electric Vehicles

Egypt begins reaping the fruits of investment incentives directed at car factories with the launch of assembly lines for modern electric models.
The national industry recorded a qualitative step with the start of experimental operations for the production and assembly lines of new electric car models and dual-fuel vehicles, within the National Automotive Industry Development Program, aimed at deepening local components and making Egypt a regional hub for manufacturing and exporting to neighboring markets.
The government is providing a package of customs and tax incentives to local manufacturers and international companies to increase the percentage of Egyptian components in feeding industries, such as batteries, electrical harnesses, and car bodies, with the aim of creating an integrated productive environment that reduces the import bill and increases self-reliance.
Investors in the sector expect these new factories to contribute to gradually lowering vehicle prices for local consumers, coinciding with the expansion of electric charging station networks on highways and in major cities, encouraging the shift toward environmentally friendly transportation.
