Ballon d’Or Website Sparks Confusion With Three Different Winners Named Before Ceremony

The official Ballon d’Or website sparked controversy hours before the 2026 awards ceremony in London after publishing three articles that pointed to different winners of the world’s best player award.

Each article indicated that a different player had won, creating conflicting accounts of the result ahead of the event in the British capital.

The contradictory posts left uncertainty over which, if any, reflected the actual outcome. The information available did not identify the players named in the articles.

With the ceremony still to begin, the website’s conflicting claims put the spotlight on the award’s official online coverage rather than providing a clear indication of the winner.
