Ukraine puts 2026 war costs at $155 billion

Ukraine’s total war costs are expected to reach $155 billion in 2026, Prime Minister Serhiy Korytsky said on Wednesday, outlining the financial burden facing the country.

Kyiv is working to close a $27 billion funding gap to ensure it can conduct effective military operations on the battlefield at the start of 2027, he said.

The figures place Ukraine’s financing needs alongside its military priorities, with efforts to secure funding this year tied to its ability to sustain operations into next year.

Korytsky’s remarks did not specify how Kyiv plans to cover the shortfall or provide a breakdown of the projected war costs.
