Portugal Fans Question Ronaldo’s Starting Role in Poll

A poll of Portugal supporters has pointed to a shift in opinion over Cristiano Ronaldo’s place in the national team, with respondents indicating that the captain no longer deserves an automatic starting spot.

The findings came after Ronaldo remained on the bench throughout Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.

Portugal secured the win without calling on their captain, putting the focus on whether he should continue to be part of the first-choice lineup.

The poll concerned Ronaldo’s role as a starter, rather than whether he should remain in the squad. No figures or details about the size of the survey were provided.

The result adds to the debate over the captain’s position, though supporter sentiment does not determine the team’s selection decisions.
