US military deploying nearly 3,000 troops in Israel, security sources say

The US military is currently deploying nearly 3,000 troops in Israel, according to a report published Sunday citing security sources.

The sources put the deployment at approximately 3,000 personnel, rather than providing an exact count.

The brief report did not identify the units involved or specify where in Israel the troops were being deployed.

It also gave no details on the deployment’s purpose or how long the personnel would remain in the country.
