Southern Transitional Council Calls for Mobilization Amid Bab el-Mandeb Warning

The Southern Transitional Council has announced its readiness for a general popular mobilization to support front-line positions and defend southern Yemen.

The council also called for a million-strong march in Aden and the southern governorates on October 14. The figure reflects the scale of turnout sought by the council, rather than confirmed participation.

The appeal comes amid warnings of an expanding Houthi threat to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and international shipping.

The mobilization announcement places the defense of the south alongside concerns over maritime security, as the council seeks public support for its call to reinforce the fronts.
