Third US Aircraft Carrier Heads to Middle East

The United States has dispatched the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and its battle group to the Middle East, according to a press report.

The reported deployment would make it the third US aircraft carrier heading to the region, expanding the American naval presence amid tensions with Iran.

The move comes as President Donald Trump signals that he could intensify bombing against Iran after the midterm elections.

The report did not specify when the Theodore Roosevelt would arrive or detail its mission. It also did not establish whether the deployment was directly linked to the potential escalation signalled by Trump.
