Raids Across 19 European Countries Over Suspected Mobile Phone Sales Fraud

Police have been carrying out raids across 19 European countries since last Saturday as part of an investigation into suspected fraud involving mobile phones sold online, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office announced.

The suspected scheme is estimated to have caused losses of about €300 million ($340 million).

The investigation centres on online mobile phone sales in a case described as the “million-phone scam.” The announcement did not specify how the alleged fraud operated.
