Sisi: Ethiopian Dam Will Not Come at the Expense of Egypt’s Existence

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Tuesday that the Ethiopian dam issue would not be allowed to come at the expense of Egypt’s existence or its people.

His remarks underscored Cairo’s position on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, while stressing that diplomacy and peaceful solutions remain the priority.

Sisi paired that message with an emphasis on Egypt’s efforts to increase its water resources, presenting domestic action alongside the pursuit of a diplomatic resolution.

The president’s comments highlighted the two strands of Cairo’s approach: seeking a peaceful solution to the dam dispute and working to expand the water resources available to the country.
