Seats From the Rubble: Gaza Man Seeks to Support His Family and Help Students

Mohammed Amer searches among the ruins of homes in the Rimal area of Gaza City for iron rods that can be used again.

His search is part of an effort to turn salvaged material into seats, linking his need to provide for his family with a desire to help students.

The work begins with finding usable metal in the rubble. For Amer, discarded rods offer a resource for making something useful from the remains of destroyed homes.

His undertaking brings together two everyday needs amid the destruction: a livelihood for his household and places for students to sit.
