Bolsonaro’s Party Accepts Lula Victory Despite Candidate’s Objections

Brazil’s Liberal Party has acknowledged the election victory of leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, despite continued objections from its presidential candidate, Flávio Bolsonaro.

The result gives Lula a fourth term in office. The party’s recognition accepts his victory in the presidential contest.

Bolsonaro, however, has continued to challenge the outcome and demand that the election results be annulled.

The differing positions leave the Liberal Party accepting Lula’s win while its candidate maintains his effort to overturn the result.
