Defending Champions Sundowns Exit CAF Champions League in Round of 32

South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns suffered an early exit from the CAF Champions League after a 1-1 home draw with Angola’s Wiliete on Friday.

The result in the second leg of their round-of-32 tie ended Sundowns’ hopes of retaining the continental title.

Playing on home soil, the defending champions were unable to secure the result they needed to keep their campaign alive.

For Wiliete, the away draw brought a notable outcome against the title holders, whose defence of the trophy ended before the group stage.
