Arnold shifts Iraq’s focus to 2027 Asian Cup after Gulf Cup exit

Iraq coach Graham Arnold has turned his attention to the 2027 Asian Cup after his side’s Gulf Cup 27 campaign ended with a draw of lots that awarded Oman the qualification spot.

Arnold criticised the method used to settle qualification, which brought Iraq’s participation in the tournament to a close.

Despite the disappointment, he praised the new faces in the Iraqi team and highlighted the gains made during the competition.

The coach’s focus is now on the Asian Cup, with Iraq looking to build on those positives after a frustrating end to their Gulf Cup campaign.
