Luxury Apartments and Expensive Cars Discovered Inside Indonesian Prison

Investigators have discovered a luxury residential compound inside a prison near Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, in a case that has sparked widespread controversy.

The compound included apartments equipped with air conditioning and large television sets. Expensive cars were also found inside the prison.

The discovery has raised suspicions that some inmates were receiving exceptional treatment, with access to comforts far beyond ordinary prison accommodation.

The available details do not establish who occupied the apartments or owned the vehicles. They also do not explain how the luxury facilities came to be inside the prison.
