Iraqi President Says Nation’s Independence Is Non-Negotiable

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi said Wednesday that Iraq’s independence and the unity of its national decision-making are principles that cannot be compromised.

His remarks linked those principles to the end of the international coalition’s mission in Iraq, which he described as a turning point for the country.

“With the conclusion of the international coalition’s duties in Iraq, our country affirms its transition to a new phase,” Amedi said.

The president placed national independence and unified decision-making at the centre of that transition, stressing that both remain non-negotiable.
