Who Will Protect Our Money in an AI Cyberwar?

The next cyberattack could unfold without a hacker sitting at a screen or a security employee being the first to spot the intrusion. Artificial intelligence could take on both roles, searching for weaknesses on one side and working to block them on the other.

In that scenario, an attacking AI would identify a vulnerability and develop a way to exploit it. A defensive system would try to detect the attack and cut off its path before it could cause damage.

For anyone relying on digital services to manage money, the prospect raises a pressing question: how much protection can automated systems provide when the tools used against them are also becoming more capable?
