UAE, Algeria and Sudan Among Speakers as UN General Debate Wraps Up

The United Nations General Assembly’s 81st session concludes its general debate in New York on Monday, with the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Sudan and South Sudan among the countries taking part.

Their participation comes on the final day of the debate, which gives member states a platform to present their positions on international issues.

The closing day coincides with a UN Security Council meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, placing the issue on the council’s agenda as the assembly’s debate draws to a close.

The two proceedings are separate: the General Assembly is wrapping up its general debate, while the Security Council is meeting to address the conflict.
