WhatsApp Gives Parents More Control Over Teen Accounts While Keeping Chats Private

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that gives parents greater control over their teenage children’s accounts, while keeping conversations private.

The update adds parental oversight tools, including the ability to manage some privacy settings on a teenager’s account.

Those controls focus on account settings rather than the content of conversations. Greater parental oversight does not mean parents are being given access to their children’s private chats.

The feature brings together two priorities for families using the messaging service: giving parents more oversight of teen accounts and preserving the privacy of personal conversations.
