Mexican Student Wins International Gold for Experimental Sound-Based Fire Extinguisher

Mexican student Angela Karimi Venegas Hernandez has won a gold medal at the International Science and Invention Fair, ISIF 2026, in Indonesia for an experimental fire extinguisher that uses sound.

The project explores an alternative approach to putting out flames, using sound rather than relying on conventional extinguishing materials.

The award recognises Hernandez’s experimental invention, though the available information does not detail its design, testing conditions or the scale of flames it can extinguish.

The device remains an experimental project. No details were provided about plans for further development or its potential use beyond demonstrations.
