Israeli operation in West Bank puts Palestinian daily life in focus

A large-scale Israeli military operation is continuing in the West Bank, bringing its impact on Palestinians’ lives into focus amid sharply opposing accounts of its purpose.

Palestinians describe the operation as collective punishment. Their criticism centres on the burden placed on the wider population, rather than only on those Israel says it is targeting.

Israeli officials say the operation is intended to protect Israeli citizens and punish terrorists. They present the ongoing military action as a security measure.

The contrasting descriptions highlight the divide over the escalation: Israeli officials emphasise security objectives, while Palestinians point to consequences for the broader community. With the operation continuing, its effect on civilian life remains a central concern.
