Egypt Authorizes Sisi to Send Military Support to Saudi Arabia

Egypt’s parliament has approved sending military support to Saudi Arabia to help defend the kingdom against attacks by Yemen’s Ansar Allah group.

The authorization gives President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi parliamentary backing to provide military assistance as Saudi Arabia faces renewed missile attacks.

The approval concerns support for the kingdom’s defense. Details of the assistance, including its scope and timing, were not provided in the summary of the decision.

Ansar Allah, meanwhile, threatened to carry out further attacks on Saudi Arabia soon, describing the planned operations as exceptional in nature.

The Egyptian move comes amid the latest attacks and the threat of further strikes, signaling Cairo’s willingness to back Saudi Arabia militarily.
