Qatar Revives Doha 2006 Horseman Scene at Asian Games Flag Handover

Qatar brought back the celebrated horseman scene from the 2006 Doha Asian Games as it received the flag to host the 2030 edition during a handover in Nagoya.

The recreation came 20 years after the original moment, linking the memory of Doha’s previous Games with preparations for its next turn as host.

Where the 2006 scene centred on the flame, the Nagoya appearance placed the horseman in the context of the hosting flag, giving a familiar image a new role.

The choice of imagery made the handover a look back as well as a step forward, drawing on a distinctive moment from Qatar’s Asian Games history.

With the flag passing to Qatar, the revived scene offered a symbolic bridge between Doha 2006 and the Games it will host in 2030.
