Trump Vows to Defeat Democrats and Keep Republican Control of Congress

US President Donald Trump pledged to defeat the Democrats in the midterm elections and preserve Republican majorities in both chambers of Congress.

Trump urged his supporters to turn out in large numbers, making voter participation a central part of his call to retain control of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

His message framed the elections as a contest to defend Republican power in Congress, with the party seeking to hold its ground against Democratic challengers.

The outcome will help shape the balance of power in Washington and Trump’s ability to advance his legislative priorities. His appeal placed the focus on mobilizing supporters ahead of that contest.
