Decent Life Initiative Brings 23,000 Projects to Egypt’s Rural Communities

Egypt’s Decent Life presidential initiative has grown to encompass 23,000 projects serving 20 million citizens, bringing basic services and support to rural communities, including villages that lacked sanitation infrastructure.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi launched the initiative on January 2, 2019, with the aim of transforming the Egyptian countryside and supporting families most in need.

The programme’s focus on underserved villages places access to essential infrastructure at the heart of its efforts to improve living conditions. Sanitation is a central part of the shift highlighted by the initiative’s reach.

The scale of the projects reflects the ambition behind Decent Life: to accelerate rural development and address longstanding gaps in services for millions of Egyptians.
