Maspero Launches AI Video Enhancement Unit, With ‘Bakkar’ in 4K as First Project

Ahmed El-Moslemany, chairman of Egypt’s National Media Authority, has announced the creation of a specialist artificial intelligence unit at Maspero to improve video quality.

The unit will use AI to process footage and enhance both sound and picture quality as part of efforts to upgrade broadcast content.

The animated series “Bakkar” will be the first project in the development initiative, with its visuals upgraded to 4K.

The announcement places AI-assisted enhancement at the centre of the new unit’s work, focusing on improving the technical quality of existing material.
