Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta to Sight Jumada al-Ula Crescent on Sunday

Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta will look for the crescent moon marking the start of Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH after sunset on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

The sighting is scheduled for the 29th of Rabi al-Akhir, the preceding month in the Islamic lunar calendar.

The observation will help determine when Jumada al-Ula begins. Islamic months follow the lunar cycle, with crescent sightings used to establish the transition from one month to the next.

The scheduled sighting does not itself confirm the first day of the new month. That determination will depend on the outcome of the moon-sighting process.
