Egypt’s House Speaker Urges MPs to Register Committee Preferences

House of Representatives Speaker Hisham Badawi has directed members to register their preferences for membership of the chamber’s specialized committees.

Badawi cited Article 39 of the House’s internal regulations, which stipulates that the speaker receives members’ applications to join the committees.

The request concerns lawmakers’ preferred committee assignments, with applications submitted through the procedure set out in the regulations.

His remarks focused on registering those preferences, rather than announcing the committees’ final membership.
