Lazio Take Sole Lead in Serie A as Roma Escape Napoli Trap

Lazio claimed sole possession of the Serie A lead in an absorbing eighth round, while Roma’s clash with Napoli delivered a dramatic Argentine-inspired comeback.

The round left Lazio alone at the top, continuing a run that has put them at the forefront of the Italian league campaign.

But it was the meeting between Napoli and Roma that provided the standout drama, with Roma fighting back to avoid being caught out by their opponents.

An Argentine-led turnaround transformed the contest, bringing a striking twist to a fixture that threatened to go Napoli’s way.

Lazio’s position at the summit and Roma’s escape gave the eighth round its defining stories: one of sustained progress at the top, the other of a comeback under pressure.
