Lebanon’s Aoun Urges US to Press Israel to Implement Ceasefire

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has called on the United States to press Israel to implement the ceasefire agreement and withdraw from southern Lebanon.

Aoun warned of the consequences of Israel backing away from its commitments under the agreement, stressing the need for it to be carried out.

His appeal placed Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon at the centre of his demand for US pressure. He urged Washington to push Israel to fulfil that requirement as part of implementing the ceasefire.

The Lebanese president’s warning underscored his concern over the repercussions of non-compliance, with his call focused on securing implementation of the agreement.
