Egypt Turns to Digital Tools to Help Farmers Track Canal Water Schedules

Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation is moving to expand the use of digital applications to manage and distribute water, with an irrigation rotation app among the key tools in that effort.

The app is intended to help farmers check when water is scheduled to reach their canals through their phones. Its focus is on making irrigation rotation schedules more accessible to those who rely on them.

Rotation schedules govern the timing of water delivery to canals. Knowing the expected delivery window can help farmers plan irrigation work around the availability of water.

The move reflects a broader push by the ministry to use digital tools in water management. The information provided did not specify a timetable for wider adoption or explain how farmers can download and use the app.
