Egypt’s Religious Endowments Ministry Commemorates Sheikh Mohamed Omran

Egypt’s Ministry of Religious Endowments is marking the anniversary of the death of Sheikh Mohamed Omran, a prominent Quran reciter and performer of devotional supplications.

Omran was one of the leading figures in Quranic recitation and ibtihal, the vocal tradition of religious supplication, in Egypt and the wider Arab world.

He was known for a distinctive style of delivery that set his performances apart in both traditions.

The ministry’s commemoration honours his memory and his standing among the celebrated voices of Egyptian religious recitation.
