Intelligence Network That Aided Yemen’s Houthis Becomes a Vulnerability

Russian satellite intelligence and Iranian operational coordination have helped Yemen’s Houthis exploit weaknesses along the country’s western front. But the system that supported those gains has itself become vulnerable to targeting.

The intelligence support gave the Houthis information they could use to identify gaps, while coordination with Iran helped connect that information to operations on the ground.

That relationship is now a potential weakness as well as an advantage. The network linking intelligence to operational decisions has become exposed, putting the support system behind Houthi actions at risk.

The shift highlights the double-edged nature of the Houthis’ reliance on outside assistance. A system that helped them exploit their opponents’ vulnerabilities may now offer a means of disrupting their own operations.
