Egypt’s Criminal Procedure Law Delayed to Ensure State Readiness, MP Says

The implementation of Egypt’s Criminal Procedure Law has been postponed to ensure that state bodies are ready to apply it, according to Tarek Radwan, chairman of the House of Representatives’ Human Rights Committee.

Radwan said the law had been discussed during the House’s second legislative term.

His remarks linked the delay to preparations by the institutions responsible for putting the law into practice, rather than to the parliamentary timetable for discussing it.

The comments did not specify a new implementation date or detail the preparations required of state bodies.
