Moon to Align Above Kaaba for Second Time in 2026

The moon will pass almost directly above the Kaaba in Mecca on Monday morning, October 5, marking the second such alignment of 2026.

Visible to the naked eye, the event will see the moon reach an altitude of nearly 90 degrees above the horizon as viewed from the holy site.

That position places the moon close to the zenith, the point in the sky directly overhead, rather than low toward the horizon.

The alignment is specific to the viewing location: observers elsewhere will see the moon at a different position in their sky, rather than directly above them.
