Telecom Firms Await Changes to Compound Service Licence Terms

Telecommunications companies are awaiting changes to the terms of a licence covering voice, video and data services in gated residential communities.

Karim Beshara, head of Link Dot Net, said his company still had reservations about the tender specifications for the “triple-play” licence.

The licence concerns the provision of the three services to closed residential developments, commonly known in Egypt as compounds.

Beshara’s comments did not specify which provisions Link Dot Net wanted changed or what revisions would address its concerns. No timetable for changes to the licence terms was provided.
