Khaled Salah Gives Building and Development Party Space to Respond to Criticism

Khaled Salah has introduced a response from Alaa Aboul Nasr, secretary-general of the Building and Development Party, following criticism he made of the party and leaders of Al-Gama'a Al-Islamiyya.

In his “One Word” column, Salah said he had received Aboul Nasr’s message warmly. The letter addressed his earlier comments about the role he believed the party and the group’s leaders were accepting in the current political environment.

Salah had accused them of agreeing to serve as a “specter of violence” in the hands of the authorities. That description was his characterization of their role, rather than an established finding.

Citing respect for the right of reply, Salah said he would turn over the column’s space to publish Aboul Nasr’s words in full. The introductory text did not include the substance of the party’s response.
