Agricultural Credit Bank Chief Urges Ghali to Exempt One Home from Property Tax

Ali Shaker, chairman of the National Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit, has called on the government to exempt private residential units from property tax, with the relief limited to one home.

The appeal, directed at Ghali, seeks a limited exemption rather than a blanket exclusion for all residential properties.

Under Shaker’s proposal, the exemption would apply to a single residential unit, not extend across multiple homes.

Shaker also called for a portion of property tax revenue to be allocated to maintaining the country’s building stock, pairing his proposed tax relief with a request for dedicated maintenance funding.
