Khaled Salah Questions Civil War Talk as June 30 Youth Urge Peaceful Protests

Khaled Salah has questioned why others are speaking of civil war when young people calling for June 30 demonstrations are promoting peaceful protest.

In a commentary titled “One Word,” Salah said he had not heard any of the young organizers speak of violence, call for it or predict its arrival.

Instead, he wrote, young members of Tamarod and the movements supporting it were raising slogans emphasizing peaceful action.

His argument drew a contrast between the message of those urging people to demonstrate and the language of civil war used by others. Salah’s central question was why that prospect was being raised when the protesters’ stated position was nonviolence.
