Coalition Reports Interception of Ballistic Missile Headed for Riyadh as Two Blasts Heard

The coalition announced that it had intercepted a ballistic missile headed toward the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as two explosions were heard.

A drone was also intercepted in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. No further details were provided about either interception or whether there were casualties or damage.

The incidents came amid warnings from the United Nations that the crisis in the Yemeni city of Taiz was worsening.

Meanwhile, a ministerial meeting in Istanbul called for the escalation to be contained. The appeal added to concerns over the deteriorating situation in Yemen and the threat of further instability.
