Hehia Central Hospital Performs First Advanced Surgery to Remove Large Meningioma

A neurosurgical team at Hehia Central Hospital in Egypt’s Sharqia governorate has saved an elderly patient’s life by removing a large meningioma, in the hospital’s first advanced operation of its kind.

Dr. Ahmed El-Beili, the Health Ministry’s undersecretary in Sharqia, announced that the hospital’s neurosurgery department had successfully performed the delicate procedure.

The operation involved removing a large tumour arising from the membranes surrounding the brain. Meningiomas develop in these protective layers rather than in the brain tissue itself.

The successful surgery marks a milestone for Hehia Central Hospital. No further details were provided about the patient’s condition after the operation or the follow-up care required.
