Walking Marathon in New Aswan Promotes Sporting Culture

A walking marathon has kicked off in New Aswan as part of efforts to encourage a culture of sport and physical activity.

The event drew participation from leaders of the Youth and Sports Directorate, the city’s development authority and Aswan University.

The walk brought together representatives of the sports sector, local development administration and the university around the shared aim of promoting exercise.

With walking as its focus, the event placed an everyday form of physical activity at the centre of the drive to encourage sports participation.
