Yemeni Government Forces Claim Gains in Taiz as Houthis Say They Hold Ground

Yemeni government forces said today they had taken control of positions in Taiz province, while the Houthis maintained that they were holding on to their battlefield gains.

The government announcement came amid continuing military operations following the launch of an offensive dubbed “Dawn of Yemen.”

The Houthis, meanwhile, said they were retaining the territory they had gained and carrying out attacks in both Taiz and Marib.

The competing claims offered conflicting accounts of the fighting in Taiz. Neither side’s account established the full extent of control on the ground.
