Egypt Deploys AI on Ismailia Canal, Plans Wider Rollout

Egypt has put artificial intelligence into use on the Ismailia Canal and plans to extend the experience more widely, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam said.

The deployment forms part of the ministry’s broader drive to improve the efficiency of water resource management. Sewilam said the ministry is expanding its efforts to make better use of available water.

A key element of that approach is increasing water reuse. The minister said water is being reused multiple times as the ministry works to raise management efficiency.

Sewilam’s remarks outlined two strands of the ministry’s work: expanding reuse and adopting technology, with the Ismailia Canal serving as the site of an AI application intended for wider rollout.
