Egypt Builds 1,650 Facilities for Flash Flood Protection and Rainwater Harvesting

Egypt has implemented 1,650 facilities for protection against flash floods and rainwater harvesting, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam said.

The facilities serve two purposes: helping protect against sudden flooding and collecting rainwater for use as a water resource.

Sewilam also highlighted international support for Egypt’s water projects, pointing to the role of the Dutch government.

Represented by its embassy in Cairo, the Dutch government is among the most prominent supporters of water projects in Egypt, the minister said.
