Trump Says Iran Has Abandoned Many Nuclear Weapons Plans
Automated summary•3 October 2026 at 22:45
US President Donald Trump reaffirmed early Sunday that Iran would not obtain a nuclear weapon, saying Tehran had already abandoned many of its plans related to such arms.
Trump presented the claimed retreat as something that had already taken place, rather than a step Iran might take in the future.
His remarks paired that assessment with a renewed insistence that Tehran would not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
The brief statement did not identify which plans Iran had abandoned or provide details supporting the claim.
