Jorge Jesus Leaves Door Open for Ronaldo’s Portugal Return

Portugal coach Jorge Jesus has said Cristiano Ronaldo can return to the national team if he wishes, offering a possible path towards resolving the uncertainty surrounding the captain’s departure.

The 41-year-old left Portugal’s training camp unexpectedly last week. Jesus’s comments indicate that the door remains open for him to rejoin the squad.

By making a return conditional on Ronaldo’s wishes, the coach has left the next step with the veteran forward. His remarks did not set out a timetable for a comeback.

The statement offers a sign of a possible easing of the situation, but does not confirm that a return has been agreed. Ronaldo’s departure and whether he will rejoin the team remain unresolved.
