Trump calls Iran ‘worst state sponsor of terrorism’

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Iran was the “worst state sponsor of terrorism,” underscoring Washington’s determination to prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Trump described blocking Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon as a priority for the United States, even if that effort led to higher oil prices.

His remarks placed the nuclear issue above concerns about the potential cost of rising energy prices, signalling his willingness to accept that economic consequence.

The comments linked Trump’s criticism of Iran over terrorism with his stance on its nuclear capabilities, presenting both as central concerns in Washington’s approach to Tehran.
