Australian Ambassador Says Egypt’s COP27 Hosting Highlighted Regional Climate Role

Egypt’s hosting of COP27 underscored its contribution to climate action in the region, Australia’s new ambassador to Cairo, Joel McGregor, said.

McGregor said Egypt and the wider Arab region possess essential experience and perspectives that can contribute to global discussions.

His remarks highlighted the value of drawing on regional knowledge in international exchanges on climate action, placing Egypt’s role within a broader Arab contribution.

The ambassador linked Egypt’s hosting of the climate conference to that role, pointing to COP27 as a demonstration of the country’s contribution to regional climate efforts.
